Ekha Agro
Farms Limited was incorporated in 1986 and started
operations in 1990 with importation and sale of food and
feed additives such as amino acids, vitamins, and sweeteners
including glucose syrup. The company's corporate office is
at Plot 15, Isaac Stan Close, Off Wempco Road, Ogba
Industrial Area, Ogba, Lagos-Nigeria.
In 2004,
the company made the strategic decision to diversify its
operations into the production of cassava-based glucose syrup, cassava
is widely cultivated in Nigeria and constitutes about 90% of the total raw
materials required in the manufacture of glucose syrup.
The Glucose
Syrup Factory
Construction of the ultra modern factory at KM 25, Lagos-Ibadan
Expressway, Ibafo, Ogun State, was completed in 2007 and
commissioned on May 15, 2007 by former President Olusegun
Obasanjo, GCFR. It is the first glucose syrup factory in
Nigeria and the second in Africa after that in South Africa.
Funding for the project was provided by a consurtium of
Banks le by Bank of Industry
Limited, NEXIM Bank Limited. The factory
has an installed production capacity of 4.4t/h food
grade glucose syrup with provisions to increase the output
capacity to 8.8t/h with the addition of a few
machines. Full production of glucose syrup at the factory
started in April 2007
The factory is on 80,000
square meters property the on Lagos-lbadan Expressway.
International starch insitute, Denmark undertook the
design, installation and commissioning of the factory to
meet the highest international standards and all process
equipment are made from stainless steel materials on all
epoxy floor finish with attached standard laboratory.
